The Formal Bowtie was designed by powerlifting and mobility legend Donnie Thompson with the athlete in mind. The heavier and stiffer material will give you more compression where you need it to provide even stronger postural correction than the Casual Bowtie. Athletes with muscle imbalances and other issues from years of training for peak performance would benefit from the tighter feel of the Formal Bowtie.

Helps shoulder mobility.
For the past 5 years I have had trouble with shoulder pain, resulting in tearing rotator cuffs multiple times. As a result my bench in particular has suffered and recovery has taken longer that usual.
I read about the bow tie in an artical on the Westside website and thought I would try it. I have not been disappointed. It holds my shoulders in place and allows my form to stay on point. It's comfortable to wear and easy to put on and remove, durable and does exactly what it says it does. I would recommend it to anyone having issues with their shoulders or just keeping strict form, particularly when fatigue sets in.
