Neen Williams at Westside: Training, Skateboarding, and the Conjugate Method in Action

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Neen Williams at Westside Barbell, and let me tell you—this guy still skateboards at a pro level while running a successful fitness coaching business and multiple restaurants. Neen’s visit wasn’t just a casual stop-in. He made time out of his packed schedule to come up to Columbus, to train, and talk shop with us about strength and conditioning.

Who Is Neen Williams?

For those who may not know, Neen is not just a pro skateboarder, he’s also a fitness coach who takes training seriously. After a long career in skateboarding, he recognized the need to build strength and stay durable—not just to extend his career but to keep pushing his athletic limits. He’s living proof that the right training can keep you performing at a high level no matter what your sport. Neen’s ability to balance his intense athletic pursuits with coaching and running a restaurant is impressive, but what stands out most is his hunger for more knowledge.

Why Neen Came to Westside Barbell

Neen came here for one reason: to learn. He wanted to see firsthand how we do things at Westside Barbell, especially with our Conjugate Method. We’ve built a system that works, and Neen wanted to absorb what he could so that he could take it back, interpret it, and make it fit his needs and those of his athletes. That’s what separates the serious athletes and coaches—those who constantly look for new ideas and are willing to come to the source to learn.

The Power of Collaboration and Conversation

Here’s the thing—people think there are “secret exercises” or “hidden methods” that we share during visits like Neen’s. But that’s not how it works. The real breakthroughs come from conversations. We sat down, grabbed some food, and brainstormed. This is where great ideas come from—by problem-solving in real-time. Louie Simmons always said, “The answer is in the gym,” and he was right. Sometimes you’ve got to put in the work, give it time, and think through the problem to find the solution.

Neen’s visit wasn’t about fancy workouts or tricks; it was about refining the basics that actually work. That’s the power of the Conjugate Method—it’s adaptable, it’s proven, and it delivers results. Neen understood that, and his willingness to sit down and dig into it was a testament to why he’s successful in both skating and coaching.

The Conjugate Method: Built for Every Athlete

At Westside Barbell, we train athletes from all backgrounds, and the Conjugate Method is at the heart of everything we do. It’s the system that Louie Simmons perfected, and we continue to use it with proven success. Neen wanted to understand how it could fit into his world, and it was great to see him apply what he learned here. This method isn’t just for powerlifters—it’s for anyone who wants to get stronger, faster, and more durable. We’ve had pro athletes from various sports come through our doors to see how we do it, and the results speak for themselves.

A Place for Learning and Growth

Neen’s visit is a reminder that Westside Barbell is still the place where athletes and coaches come to learn, trade ideas, and get better. We’ve built a training culture that doesn’t settle for mediocrity. It’s not about a “mindset for excellence”; it’s about putting in the work, staying consistent, and holding yourself accountable to a standard that produces results. That’s what we do, and that’s why people like Neen come here to sharpen their skills.

The conversations we had weren’t about shortcuts—they were about hard work, consistency, and a willingness to dig into the process. That’s what separates those who are here to really learn from those who are just looking for an easy fix. And trust me, there are no easy fixes here.

The Takeaway

Neen Williams came to Westside Barbell not because he needed some magic program or a secret workout, but because he knows that the answers come from learning, collaboration, and pushing the boundaries of what you think is possible. He left with more than just training ideas—he left with a deeper understanding of the Conjugate Method and how it can fit into his system.

If you’re serious about learning and growing as an athlete or coach, Westside Barbell is where you need to be. Our doors are always open for those who are willing to put in the work.
